About Us

Wishbone Pet Rescue was formed by a group of people concerned with the health, treatment, and quality of life of the many pets in our West Michigan community. Based in the Saugatuck area, our goal is to provide rescue and rehabilitation services to animals in need, as well as public education about subjects such as spaying and neutering, breeding, and neglect. Our greatest wish is to provide hope and alternatives for abused and abandoned animals, and greatly reduce the number of future cases.

One of our most exciting programs is the Animal Shelter Alliance Project ( ASAP ). Wishbone has been asked to assist the Allegan County Animal Shelter with animal care and adoption services. Beginning in June 2009 our volunteer staff will re-open the Shelter to the public for weekend visitation, adoptions, and education classes on animal care.

Wishbone will also soon launch our Pet Food Pantry. This program was developed to provide economic assistance to those in need through distribution of free pet food. It is remarkable the number of animals that end up in our community shelter when families can no longer afford to feed them.

As a fully incorporated non-profit organization, Wishbone will be working hard to provide shelter and safety for pets within communities where few options exist. Dogs with special needs due to fighting, breeding for profit, abuse, and neglect are still far too common, and we are working hard to combat these issues when and where few others would. With support from animal lovers like you, we know we can succeed.

At Wishbone Pet Rescue, we’re making a difference one pet at a time. You can help, just ask how.
